Yesterday Preston Automotive Group confirmed their first deal under the new CARS act. The CARS act was signed into law in late June, allowing customers trading in non fuel efficient vehicles the opportunity to receive up to $4500 from the government towards the purchase of a more fuel efficient vehicle.
Al and Betsy Mullins were the first to purchase a new vehicle from the Preston Automotive Group receiving full benefits from the CARS act. The couple traded in their 1990 Ford Bronco 4×4 that managed a combined 11 miles per gallon EPA estimated fuel economy to purchase a 2009 Ford Focus that received an combined EPA estimated fuel rating of 27 miles per gallon at Preston Ford.

Leverkusen – Bayer Technology Services, LANXESS, Technische Universität Dortmund, the University of Bonn and Buss SMS Canzler launched a joint research project on the innovative production of synthetic rubber. This initiative is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project aims to significantly cut the energy and resources consumed during production of the synthetic rubbers used in the tire, vehicle, construction and pharmaceutical industries. This interdisciplinary collaboration among German research partners will be the nucleus to establish a leading global competence center. The research project, which is worth some EUR 10 million and will run for over three years, is receiving almost EUR 5 million in funding from the BMBF.
